How to Add 'Pizzaz' to Avocado

Do not let the high fat content of avocados deter you from eating them. Avocados are a super food, in that they contain 20 different vitamins and minerals, and are higher in potassium than bananas, without the added sugar.

Avocados are loaded with heart-healthy monounsaturated fatty acids, rich in soluble fiber important for healthy gut bacteria which are especially important for optimal body function

Avocados are loaded with powerful antioxidants, and the fat content from them may help you absorb nutrients from other plant foods.

Avocados are also high in fiber and exceptionally low in carbs, two attributes that should help promote weight loss as well, at least in the context of a healthy, real-food-based diet.

When you ask the average person, what to do with avocado the answer typically is guacamole or salsa, which is great but how often can you eat this without tiring of it. This was my dilemma as even though I knew all the benefits of incorporating avocados into my diet, I found that I tired of the taste of them. This was before a friend and customer of Posh Nosh Spice Blends got me on to the idea of adding a variety of spice blends avocado to change up the flavor. Let’s face it avocados on their own don’t exactly burst with flavor, and can actually be a bit bland-kind of like chicken-in that you can make them taste how you want by adding flavors to them.

Now avocados have taken on a whole new level of joy in my life because by just adding a different spice blend to them I can now eat them every day. Simply by adding a spice blend to mashed avocados, using them as a spread on wraps, bread, crackers, served as a dip for cut up veggies, or adding a sprinkle of spice blend to sliced avocado as a topper to salads, soups, or a variety of main dishes. It is fun to experiment with flavors depending what suits my fancy that day.

There are no rules when creating fun and tasty meals with Posh Nosh Spice Blends. I find when using the spice blends go by smell to get a sense for which one works for your desired outcome for that meal. Start by adding a little, taste, and add more for desired results.

The creation shown in this blog has the spice blend Is It Istanbul? added to mashed avocado served on toasted 9 grain bread.
